GOALS and OBJECTIVES
LONG-RANGE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Goal:
 |
The Sacred Heart School faculty will provide an
environment of Christian living so that the student's Christian morals and
ethical principles may in the future be the seed and the salt of the earth |
Objectives:
 |
To make known to each student the person and message of
Christ through a curriculum that is geared to the psychological needs of
each level of learning. |
 |
To assist the student in developing an understanding of
the Church of Christ. |
 |
To help the student develop a spirit of prayer and worship
by providing time and space. |
 |
To create an atmosphere for respect of others and of their
rights, regardless of differences, since all are God's children. The
invitation to the table is all inclusive. |
Goal:
 |
The Sacred Heart School faculty will assist and motivate
each student to think imaginatively, creatively, analytically and
compassionately. |
Objectives:
 |
To provide opportunities and experiences for the student
which emphasize their heritage, as well as, the responsibilities and
privileges of American citizenship. |
 |
To assist the student to acquire basic skills, especially
in the art of communication, in quantitative thinking, and in the
sciences. |
 |
To help the student to develop the skills to think
constructively, to solve problems, to reason independently, and to accept
responsibility for self-evaluation and continuing self-instruction for
life in the twenty-first century. |
Goal:
The Sacred Heart School faculty will
provide opportunities in curriculum for each child to develop in all areas;
spiritual, intellectual, social, physical, and emotional.
Objectives:

To provide experiences through which each student can
develop a sense of wonder and an appreciation of beauty. |

To provide opportunities to develop moral and spiritual
values, ethical standards of conduct and basic integrity. |
 |
To assist students in acquiring a sense of responsibility
for the community in which they live and in the world community. |
SHORT TERM GOALS AND OBJECTIVES 2005-2007
I. COMMUNICATION
The Sacred Heart School faculty will
enhance its welcoming environment by working together to improve
communications, on all levels, so as to promote an attitude of loving
concern and respect modeled by Jesus.
Objectives:

To send home weekly communications to parents on Thursdays |
 |
To keep the pastor informed by providing him with a copy
of all communications sent home to parents |
 |
To include weekly school information in the Sunday
Bulletin |
 |
To collaborate with the Marketing Committee in designing
and updating brochures, and newspaper advertisements that are both
impressive and appealing |
 |
To be visible and open |
 |
To share learning with the wider community. |
II. CURRICULUM
The Sacred Heart School faculty will
continue to design curriculum that promotes academic excellence and prepares
students to live in the twenty-first century successfully as lifelong
learners.
Objectives:
 |
To utilize resources needed in the development of
curriculum |
 |
To continue to implement and upgrade curriculum to meet
National and State Standards in all areas |
 |
To plug in resources available on-line, and Sacred Heart
classroom software, manipulatives, and network programs. |
 |
To continue re-evaluating the mathematics curriculum based
on the Terra Nova scores |
 |
To provide professional in-services that help the faculty
achieve integration of technology across the curriculum in lesson
development to motivate students and improve learning achievement |
 |
To continue to implement Renaissance Learning especially
in language arts |
 |
To foster and enrich reading and mathematics proficiency
through Title I programs. |
III. TECHNOLOGY
The Sacred Heart School faculty will use
technology as a tool for enhancing the curriculum by implementing technology
and telecommunications in the classroom and in the computer lab.
Objectives:
 |
To evaluate the software and integrate it as a functional
part of the curriculum |
 |
To utilize the Internet and Network programs to enhance
and/or to reinforce learning at all levels |
 |
To further develop and implement personal computer
literacy in the areas of computer applications and the use of the Internet
to enhance learning skills |
 |
To encourage greater student use of computer applications
in all areas of the curriculum |
 |
To use technology as a tool for enhancing the curriculum:
Power Point Presentations, Spreadsheets for math calculations, Publisher
layouts, Word techniques in writing, etc. |
 |
To continue to update the Sacred Heart Technology Plan |
 |
To make the Sacred Heart Website functional for students,
parents, and to attractive future clients. |
