SACRED HEART SCHOOL =

PARENTS   +  FACULTY  +  STUDENTS,

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION

Sacred Heart School is a FAITH COMMUNITY, a Christian Roman Catholic Educational Community, in the Archdiocese of Chicago, which provides for its students an integration of quality education and experiences in Christian living through development for a technological society, the future world.  Herein the students are encouraged and challenged to develop their spiritual, academic, emotional, social and physical potentials.

A natural outgrowth of this development is that students become viable witnesses to Jesus by proclaiming the Word in action, by actively participating in community life in the parish, and by loving commitments to Christian service.

With the active involvement of parents, who are the primary educators, our collaborators, we strive to achieve our distinctive purposes: to create a school community shared in a family atmosphere among parents, priests, teachers, students, and the parish family faith community and organizations in a spirit of freedom and love.

 We the faculty of Sacred Heart School, bearing in mind the distinctive purpose of Catholic education, maintain a philosophy which is both Roman Catholic and Franciscan.

We maintain:

  • that God exists and is Creator.  By the Incarnation God became man, Jesus Christ, who emptied Himself even to the suffering and death for our Redemption.  With the Holy Spirit, the Sanctifier, each person becomes one with the Father as Jesus did;

  • that every person is created by God in the image of God and has dignity because of the likeness, and, therefore, deserves respect;

  • that all creation is God our Father's gift to mankind;

  • that the purpose of human life is union with God, and only in God can happiness be realized;

  • that we are a sacramental people sharing brotherhood and sisterhood with Christ and that although the integrity of the individual was lost with original sin, we find rebirth and conversion in Baptism and in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and are continually nourished and strengthened in the Eucharist;

  • that truth and integrity are attainable through Scripture, Revelation, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit;

  • that under guidance of the Holy Spirit and by our Christian commitment we mirror the goodness that is God and find self-direction and fulfillment in loving and serving Christ through Christian education;

  • that the Church is the community of Faith , an extension of Christ: His teachings, His grace (life and love), and His work in the world;

  • that we are part of the Church which is commissioned by Christ to spread the Gospel Message, which is the proclamation of the Good News to the poor;

  • that the Word was Incarnate through the Virgin Mary, Mother of Christ, whose FIAT we imitate in our service to others;

  • that we strive to live the Gospel message in the spirit of St. Francis as expressed in the "Peace Prayer of St. Francis."
